I have been thinking about starting a blog for a while so here goes.
I am 38 years old and mum to a lively 4 year old called Mitchell who holds my heart. I have been married to Jeremy for 8 years and although we have had our ups and downs things are good :) My mum also lives with us in a self contained granny annexe (formally the double garage, downstairs loo and utility room). Mum and I bought the house together in July 2009 and now we are a family of 4 with 2 cats to keep us company.
I work part time as a legal assistant for the County Council and mostly defend personal injury claims. I just work at the first half of the week which is great as I can just be a mum the other four days per week :) When Mitchell starts school next September, I am hoping to change my working week to four days so that I can take him to school and pick him up without the need for an after school club or child minder but we will have to see. Currently, he goes to nursery while I work which he loves.
My husband is a full time student and is studying for a degree in Physics at Nottingham University. He is in his second year. Money can be a bit tight but we manage okay with my wages, tax credits, contributions from mum, student loan and grants.
My mum is 77 and isn't very mobile so needs quite a lot of support. She walks with a walking frame as her balance was affected by a stroke a few years ago. Her walking has deteriorated and she cannot go out alone as she needs a wheelchair out of the house. She manages well looking after her personal care and making quick meals and snacks while I do the main meals, washing, cleaning and sort her paperwork etc.
Mitchell has just woken up and is ready for breakfast so I will post more later.
